What is Hypnosis?

Many people experience hypnosis throughout the day as a natural state of relaxation at various levels. It’s a state in which your subconscious mind is active, while the conscious mind rests.  Some may experience hypnosis as a very light trance, kind of like getting sucked into a really good movie.  While others may experience hypnosis at a very deep level in which the body and mind relax completely.

Imaginability Defined

I believe all hypnosis is self-hypnosis.  Even though I act as your guide, only you can hypnotize yourself. Hypnotizability depends on your imaginability and your willingness to let go.  Imaginability is your ability to imagine.  In other words, it’s your ability to day dream and let go of what is going on around you so that you can deeply and fully focus your attention on you.  When you fully and completely focus on you, you give yourself the attention it needs to feel better in every way.

The Link Between Hypnosis and Imagination

Essentially, hypnotherapy works by you using your imagination to visualize when provided suggestions of relaxation. The more you use your imagination to visualize the images of relaxation given to you, the more you will be using the power of your mind to relax, or to hypnotize yourself.  The more you deeply relax, the easier it is for you to respond to suggestions and free the best you.

Hypnotherapy works directly with your subconscious mind.  By progressively relaxing the conscious mind into a deeply relaxed state, the subconscious mind is active and open to suggestions.  Accessing the subconscious mind enhances your ability to imagine, create, remember, and respond to suggestions for your highest good.

Purpose of a Hypnotherapist

As a hypnotherapist, or guide, I simply help you block out distractions by focusing your attention on the sound of my voice so that you can relax.  As your guide, I also help by showing you how to train your mind to relax.  By guiding you through a progressive relaxation, I help you learn self-hypnosis techniques. Eventually you will become comfortable practicing self-hypnosis, and you will master the techniques to be used anywhere, anytime, and in any situation.

What You Can Expect

As your guide, I will also ask questions and listen to help understand what you are feeling now and how you would like to feel in the future.  Additionally, I act as a sounding board to help you understand what you need to feel better in every way. I help by connecting a path for you in your mind from one state to another.  That is to say, I provide suggestions for your subconscious mind that are specific and customized to your needs.   I believe all the answers and resources we need to be our best are within us; therefore, they just need to be tapped.

As a result, hypnotherapy can help change habits, mental thought patterns, and self-limiting beliefs, also known as ANTs (automatic negative thoughts).  Additionally, hypnosis can also help you manage stress, alleviate fears and anxiety, and reduce pain and other physical symptoms.  Hypnotherapy has also successfully been used for anesthesia for medical procedures such as surgery and dental work.
